The Serip design concept consists of organic forms inspired by nature. Round, spiral, disproportionate and unusual shapes highlight the design of Serip and are classified as an exclusive "Organic Lighting" - "Organic Lighting".
In a monotonous world focused on symmetry and standardization as a result of industrialization and mass production, Serip prefers originality and unique dissimilarity, contrast as the natural nature of the elements.
The desire of Serip for innovative design in lighting was the result of a unique approach to understanding the market for interior decoration.
Due to the almost complete absence of automated production processes and the extensive use of manual labor, it is impossible to detect two identical products. Each model produced is a unique piece of art.
Founded in 1961, Mário J. Pires Lda begins the production of fixtures using glass and brass. During this period, the company adheres to the classic concept. In the early 80s, Serip created the first model in organic style (a lamp with a halogen exposure), but she did not receive positive reviews. Specific design ahead of its time.
In 2002, Serip introduces the concept of organic design, which becomes dominant in the company. After 3 years, the 1st catalog appears with all the models in organic design called “Life Color Motion”. In 2007, the company began to produce models according to individual sizes.
The appearance in 2008 of the “Mysterious” catalog was a significant event in the history of Serip. This allowed the company to differentiate its product as absolutely different from that produced in the lighting market at that time. The dramatic and theatrical presentation of the models in this catalog, which was made in the romantic Sintra, received the full approval of the customers. The same year was the last for the production of chandeliers using natural alabaster.
Serip produces the first lamp with LED technology in 2011 and is fully committed to projects.
